Putnam Trio Charged with Probation Violation

Three residents of Putnam County are facing charges of violating the terms and conditions of their court order probation and now face incarceration.

Probation Director Gene Funicelli announced the arrests last week of Maren Gelder, 25, of Philipstown, Lucas Rodriquez, 19, of Lake Peekskill and Sava Dorritie, 21, of Carmel.

A 19 year old Mohegan Lake youth accused of driving drunk and causing a horrific crash in Fishkill that claimed the life of a Cold Spring woman and critically injured her husband appeared in court last week.

Tom Chapin Performs at Farmers’ Market

It was a beautiful Saturday morning for the Cold Spring Farmers’ Market at Boscobel, and as noon came, the air filled with music and clapping for Tom Chapin and Michael Mark.

The children’s singers put on an interactive show, with songs about the local library, alphabet soup and most fittingly, songs about a farmers’ market and locally grown foods.

No Injuries In Philipstown Bear-Car Crash

No injuries were reported as the result of a bear-car crash on Route 9D at Beverly Warren Drive near Boscobel last Friday.

State Police at Cortlandt told the PCN&R the bear “bounced” off the vehicle before meandering into the woods. “It didn’t appear that the animal was seriously injured,” said a trooper.

Single-Car Accident on Route 9D

Garrison volunteer firefighters responded to a single-vehicle accident on 9D Friday. The driver was not seriously injured. Other agencies at the scene included Cold Spring and Continental Village Fire Departments, Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Sheriff’s Office.

Serino Gets GOP Nod for 41st State Senate Seat

A county legislator from Dutchess County has received both Putnam and Dutchess GOP backing to challenge State Senator Terry Gipson this fall.

Sue Serino will face a primary in September since despite Dutchess Legislature Chairman Rob Rolison and Dutchess Comptroller Jim Coughlan both withdrawing from the race, Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik continues his campaign.
